Sermons I Recommend (All Free!)

February 7, 2009

I have a friend who is in a new life situation and has quite more commuting than she used to. Here’s a bunch of sermons I recommended she load up on her MP3 player. There are probably so many other powerful ones that I haven’t listed here, but these are on the tip of my mind at the moment (either b/c I’ve listened to them recently or recent situations with other families have sparked their recollection and recommendation).

Mark Driscoll has 4 on “Spiritual Warfare” (thanks Scott for that recommendation!)

C. J. Mahaney
3 on “The Idol Factory”
“Christ the Mediator” “The Cry From the Cross” “The Cup”
“Testimony: C. J.’s Conversion”

I haven’t listened to Carolyn Mahaney’s stuff, but my wife and some friends have been reading several of her articles lately to their great benefit. Here’s the link:

Tim Conway
“The Art of Pleading with God”
12 on “Christ-Centered Parenting” (the best parenting stuff I’ve heard, period)
Several on “Killing Sin” from Rom 7-8
Anything on prayer, missions, sacrificial living he has is always good for me to hear^Conway&SpeakerOnly=true&currSection=sermonsspeaker&AudioOnly=false&SortBy=added&sortby=added

Justin Vold
“The Testimony of an Alaskan Missionary”

John Piper
20 (??) biography sermons : : I have esp. benefited from and often recalled and meditated on what I heard here about Adoniram Judson, John Bunyan, John G. Paton, Charles Simeon, Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
The literary / story side of me loves John Piper’s poems. Rich narratives of biblical accounts, sometimes historical fiction, always edifying themes being developed.
5 on Job and Suffering
