3 Meals a Day : : That’s Good Eatin’!

February 24, 2009

Just an encouragement to all you fathers and husbands out there (and everyone else reading):

If you struggle to shepherd your wife and kids, I’ve found very helpful the practice of just reading one chapter of Scripture at each meal with them. We eat, and before we get up to do anything else, we pull out the Bible to read. Then we talk about about one truth we read in it. Then we sing a couple songs. 10 minutes.

At suppertime, we’re reading Isa 53. We’ve been at it for a month and a half and it’s been great. We don’t push hard, but we’ll easily have it by April.
And the kids have the refrain down pat to “Man of Sorrows”. “Hal-le-LOOOOOOOOO-jah! . . .”

Ha ha!I know a couple dads up here. And a lot of farmers! More important is the steady feeding on God’s Word. Even if it comes from Mommy, this is Dad’s primary responsibility.
