Why We Love the Resurrection : : 1

March 31, 2010

It’s Easter this week!

Why do Christians love and celebrate Jesus’ resurrection? I’ve found several helpful lines in Adrian Warnock’s new book, Raised with Christ: How the Resurrection Changes Everything.

He was declared to to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom 1:4

Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit . . . taken up in glory. 1 Tim 3:16

As one scholar said, “God’s final verdict on his Son is not seen [demonstrated] in the cross, but in the resurrection. ” If Jesus wasn’t who he said he was, then how could he have saved us? Jesus’ vindication convinces us that he is the Messiah, the Song of God, the Prince of Life, that he had fulfilled Scripture, that God was pleased with him, that the work of the cross was now complete, and that he had no need to remain dead.
